(Rec. 11.20 p.m.) AMMAN, Jan. 24. An Israeli patrol yesterday, penetrated six miles across the Jordan border south of the Dead Sea and exchanged fire with Jordan home guards, the Jordan Press Office said today. . One Jordan home guard was seriously injured, the announcement said. The press office said the Israeli patrol, of seven men wearing rubber shoes, crossed the armistice line and penetrated as far as the village of Vivah.

Eleven empty bullets of Israeli make were found at the scene of the clash, the office said. Jordan lodged a complaint with the Mixed Armistice Commission. United Nations truce observers today left for the scene to investigate.
