Way Out Of Ice For Theron
<®ec. 9 p.m.) LONDON, Jan. 21. The sealer Theron, with the British Antarctic expedition aboard, today pattered her way through encircling Jce floes to a possible escape route to the north.
The discovery of a narrow channel ©y the expedition’s reconnaissance Plane brought high hopes that Dr. Vivian Fuchs, leader of the expedition, Would win his race against the Antarctic winter.
Dr. Fuchs has been trying desperately to find a way out of the encircling ice-floes that have trapped the Srin for the last three weeks. The unexpected discovery yesterday pt an ice-Zree pool, only 350 yards long, gave him the opportunity to send up his Auster plane to search for creaks in the ice.
