TWO MEN KILLED

MOTOR CYCLE LEAVES ROAD (New Zealand Press Association) DUNEDIN, January 22. When the motor-cycle they were riding went out of control in loose shingle near Miller’s Flat at 5.30 p.m. yesterday, two men were killed. They were: Thomas Leslie Stevenson, aged 22. of Carey’s Bay, Port Chalmers; and Robert Taiawhio Parata, aged 33, of 132 Clermiston avenue, Dunedin. Both were carpenters. They were travelling north on the main highway about a mile south of Miller’s Flat when their machine ran off the road and struck three of the white posts lining the side of the road. CHILD KILLED BY ELECTRIC SHOCK (New Zealand Press Association) AUCKLAND, January 22. When he pulled the power lead from a circular saw, a seven-year-old boy was killed by an electric shock at his home in Auckland yesterday. The boy was: Leslie John Raymond, son of Mr and Mrs H. M. Raymond, of 428 Massey road, Maugere. SWIMMER FATALLY INJURED (New Zealand Press Association) WANGANUI, January 22. Ronald Alexander McKenzie, aged 15, who suffered a serious back injury while swimming in the Wanganui Central Swimming Baths on Friday, died in the Wanganui Hospital this morning. An inquest was opened before the District Coroner (Mr F. Forsyth), and a post-mortem examination was ordered. WOMAN KILLED CAR OUT OF CONTROL (New Zealand Press Association) AUCKLAND, January 22. A woman was killed when a car driven by her son became out of control and crushed its left side against a bank on the Mamaku Hills, 18 miles from Rotorua, at 5 p.m. on Saturday. She was: Mrs Rachael Millison Weight, aged 64, of 204 Clyde street, Island Bay, Wellington. MOTOR-CYCLIST INJURED IN COLLISION A motor-cyclist was seriously injured when he was knocked off his machine by a truck on the Main South I highway at Hinds about 6.15 p.m. on Saturday. He was Mr George Thomas Reeves, of Hinds. Mr Reeves was taken by St. John Ambulance to the Ashburton Public Hospital, where his condition last evening was reported to be serious. He is thought to ’ have auffered a fractured pelvis.
