NURSES’ FELLOWSHIP CONFERENCE
Delegates to the Nurses’ Christian Fellowships Dominion conference being held at Tyndale House, Cashmere, had afternoon tea at the Botanic Gardens on Saturday after a bus tour of Christchurch.
, In * he evening they were guests of the Christchurch Public Hospital group of the fellowship. The speakers, who were introduced by Mrs Colin Brown (Heretaunga), who presided were Miss V. MacMillan, of the Sudan United Mission, Ethiopia, who is returning soon to the field, Mrs M. Kirkby, of the New Hebrides, Miss Edith Parkerson, who spoke of her experiences in China and Malaya, Miss Jane Bond, formerly of the British Solomon Islands, and Miss Jocelyn Broughton, from Pakistan. Three Korean nurses who are furthering their studies in New Zealand under a CORSO grant spoke of mission work in their country, and Miss M. Daniel, of Pakistan, the holder of a CORSO scholarship, outlined the course she was taking in New Zealand. Musical items were given by the nurses in training.
Yesterday morning a Communion service was held in the Cashmere Presbyterian Church, and in the evening all delegates attended a service in the Christchurch Cathedral. The Dean of Christchurch (the Very Rev. Martin Sullivan) was the preacher. The conference will close today with a dismissal service to be taken by the Rev. Lewis Wilson, of Rangiora.
