FOOTBALL IN BRITAIN

WALES WINS RUGBY INTERNATIONAL (N.Z. Press Association-Copy ng tit) (Rec. 9 p.rri.) LONDON, January 21. Wales beat England by eight points (one goal, one try) to three (one penalty goal) in the Rugby Union international at Twickenham, today. The Welsh side led 5-0 at half-time. Snapping up its chances, in spite of having much less of the ball, Wales scored two opportunist tries while England’s backs failed to take advantage of the excellent work by the forwards. Faulty passing and failure with two fairly easy penalty goals nullified the good work by England’s pack. Wales led within two minutes, when Clem Thomas put' his fellow forward, Russell Robins, over for a try which the fuU-back. Gary Owen, converted. Allison, England’s new full-back, replied with a wide-angle penalty goal from 30 yards after 48 minutes of play. Then the/Welsh sent the ball out quickly to the left wing, Len Davies, who sprinted 40 yards for the line.
