MISS J. DAVIDSON WINS SINGLES AUCKLAND PLAYERS SUCCESSFUL (New Zealand Press Association) GISBORNE, January 22. Brian Woolf and R. Moore, of Auckland, eacn won three titles at the New Zealand junior tennis championships, which concluded in Gisborne yesterday. Woolf won the under 19 singles, partnered Miss J. Davidson (Canterbury) in the mixed doubles under 19, and, with L. Gerrard, won the under 19 boys’ doubles. Wong won the under 17 singles. With J. Lockington (Auckland) he won the under 17 boys’ doubles. The mixed doubles under 17 was won by Wong and Miss Mary Hatton. All the title-winners except Miss Davidson came from Auckland. Miss Davidson had a comfortable win in the final of the under 19 girls’ singles. Results of finals were:— Boys’ Doubles, under 19.—8. E. Woolf and L. Gerrard (Auckland) beat K. Long and B. Thomas (Auckland), 6-4, 6-4. Girls’ Doubles, under 19.—Misses F. Cliff (Wellington) and G. Hopkinson (Canterbury) beat Misses J. Buxton (Hawke's Bay) and A. Emery (Waikato). 6-4, 6-1. Mixed Doubles, under 19:—B. E. Woolf (Auckland) and Miss J. Davidson (Canterbury) beat K. Long and Miss S. Birchall (Auckland), 7-5, 6-0. Boys’ Doubles, under 17.—R. Wong and J. Lockington (Auckland) beat G. Atkinson and C. Pascoe (Auckland), 6-3, 7-5. Girls' Doubles, under 17.—Misses G. Brough and J. Little (Auckland) beat Misses R. Culling (Otago) and M. Douglas (Waikato), 2-6, 7-5, 8-6. Mixed Doubles, under 17.—R. Wong and Miss M. Hatton (Auckland) beat C. Pascoe and Miss B. Bryant (Auckland), 6-4. 6-4. Girls’ Singles, under 19.—Miss J. Davidson (Canterbury) beat Miss A. Emery (Waikato), 8-6, 6-1. Girls’ Singles, under 17.—Miss J. Glennie (Auckland) beat Miss B. Bryant, 6-3, 6-4. Boys’ Singles, under 19.—8. Woolf (Auckland) beat D. L. Gerrard (Auckland), 6-1, 2-6, 6-3. Boys’ Singles, under 17.—R. Wong (Auckland) beat C. D. Pascoe (Auckland), 6-2. 6-2. Boys' under 19 Plate.—B. Shute (Hutt Valley) beat B. Thomas (Auckland), 6-3, 6-2. Girls’ under 19 plate.—Miss G. Baigent (Auckland) beat Miss P. Quinn (Hutt Valley), 6-5, 6-5. . Boys’ under 17 Plate.—M. Simons (Wellington) beat J. Robson (Auckland), 6-4, 6-5. Girls’ under 17 Plate.—Miss C. Smith (Canterbury) beat Miss H. Hamilton (Canterbury), 6-3, 3-6, 6-3.
