SLIGHT RISE IN WOOL PRICE
(Rec. 12.40 am.) SYDNEY. January 9. The Australian wool season resumed with sales in Sydney today and compared with the closing rates in Sydney in 1955. prices on the whole were a little dearer.
Good style Merino fleece and skirtings remained firm but average descriptions were from par to 2j per c*nt. dearer.
Locks, crutchings and lambs wool were keenly sought at rates 2J per cent, dearer.
Comebacks and crossbreds met strong demand and prices tended in sellers’ favour. There was sustained competition throughout. The Continent. Britain and Japan were the chief buyers, with use-
ful support from the United States and local mills. Of the 16,428 bales offered, 16,323 were sold. Crossbred prices included: 77Jd for good 60/64’s. .77 J d for good 60’s. 73d for good 58's. 70|d for good to super 56/58’s, 62d for super 50 s.
