UNIVERSITY STAFF SALARIES
APPROACH TO PRIME MINISTER (New Zealand. Press Association) WELLINGTON, January 9. A direct approach to the Prime Minister (Mr Holland) is to be made by the Association of University Teachers of New Zealand seeking approval of their new salary scale, which was recommended to the Cabinet last July by the University Grants Committee. This was stated today by the association’s Dominion president (Mr E. K. Eray-Erookes).. He said that a special committee meeting of the association during the week-end was attended by staff delegates of all four university colleges and of Massey and Canterbury Agricultural Colleges. Mr Holland said today by telephone from his North Canterbury farm that he was making arrangements for the Minister of Education (Mr R. M. Algie) and the Attorney-General (Mr J. R. Marshall), who is chairman of the Cabinet committee undertaking the general review, to meet the delegation with him. ’
