THE POUJADISTS
Sir, —"Tauran” has provided your readers with much food for thought. If the objects of the PoujadisU are honourable (and they have yet to be proved otherwise) then the persecution tactics used by both the extreme Right, the Moderate, and the Leftist press in condemning a group of politicians, who are pledged to reduce taxation and obediently represent their x electors, is to be deplored. Poujadists are ridiculed as a party without a policy. Surely the honest representation of the people by achieving for the electors the results the electors demand is the only true democratic policy. Yet. these men are denounced as semi-Fascist. anti-Jewish, and antidemodratic. In other words, they are pro-French and are pledged to act in the interests of their French electors rather than bow to the dictates of .some international cabal of finance. Their policy, therefore, is not approved by the money-power.—Yours, etc., GEO. M. EDMONDS. January 8. 1955.
