R. J. SKELTON RIDES FOUR WINNERS

INVERCARGILL, Jan. 8. R. J. Skelton, of Wingatui, rode four winners, including those of both divisions of the Novice Handicap, in six rides on the second day of the Southland Racing Club’s summer meeting on Saturday. There was a good attendance, and the racing was held in fine weather. The winning double. Obelisk and Gypsy Tap, paid £9l 8s 6d for £l. The totalisator handled £43.439 ss, compared with £42,480 on the second day last year. The total for the meeting was £83.382 15s - compared with £74,473 5s last

Capet finished second in the Gladstone Hurdles, but was disqualified when his rider. D. M. Te Au, weighed in 31b light. Superdowa was then placed second. Lovelock third, and Waldeck fourth.
