Killing has been resumed at the Nelson Freezing Company’s works after a fire on December 13 when much of the freezing accommodation was damaged and the engine room gutted. e After i the hold-up. the works are faced with a big rush of stock but manager (Mr G. Brown) said that the farmers were “patient and tolerant and were doing their best to co-operate at a difficult time.” H was expected that everything would be back to normal in a fortnight. Plenty of labour was. offering and the works were well off for butchers. All the butter in store at the time of the fire—some thousands of boxes—has been transferred to cold storage in Christchurch.
