POST OFFICE ACQUIRES FIVE ACRES •

About five acres of land fronting the south side of Blenheim road has been transferred to the Post ?nd Telegraph Department by the Ministry of Works, according to a notice in the Gazette.

This land, said a Post Office spokesman yesterday, would be used for storage, but the department had no immediate plans for building. The Post Office already has stores in Alliance street. Addington, and in Avonside. and a section in Riccarton.

’Phis new block, which was bought from Paton and Baldwin. Ltd., in October. 1952. has a frontage of seven and three-quarter chains on Blenheim road, and is six and three-quarter chains deep. The original block was of about 11 acres.
