NEW ARCHBISHOP OF YORK
SUCCESSOR TO DR. GARRETT LONDON. January 5. The Queen has approved the nomination of the 51-year-old Bishop of Durham, the Rt. Rev. Arthur Michael
Ramsay, to be Archbishop of York—second post in the Church of England hierarchy. The Archbishop of York, Dr. Cyril Garbett, died at the week-end. He was 80.
The Queen has also approved that the Bishop of Guildford, the Rt. Rev. Henry Colville Montgomery Campbell, be nominated for election as Bishop of London in succession to Dr. J. W. C. Wand, who will retire shortly.
