U.S. Fighters For Japan

(Rec. 10 p.m.) TOKYO. January 4. The United States Far East Air Force today announced that nine F-85 Sabre jets for Japan arrived this week aboard the aircraft-carrier Windham Bay. The shipment is the second group of modern jet fighters scheduled for delivery to Japan’s embryo Air Force through the Mutual Defence Assistance Pact with the United States. Recently Japan received her first seven jet fighters. The nine Sabre jets are being moved to Kisarazu airbase near Tokyo, where electric and armament equipment will be installed. Crews of trained maintenance specialists will inspect all functioning parts of the aircraft and the Rising Sun insignia of Japans Air Defence Force will be painted
