NOISY CHRISTMAS PRESENTS

Sir, —I have just read the letter by “M.T.” regarding children receiving whistles, etc. Although I read it with a chuckle, I can, as a mother of four young ones, say that the awful din of Christmas morning was deafening. but at the same time it would not seem right any other way. After all. that morning is theirs. Here’s hoping that by next Christmas some of the less fortunate children of this world will be able to enjoy, too, the good (if noisy) fun of Christmas morning.—Yours, etc., JOAN. December 30, 1955.
