POLICE SEARCH IN AUCKLAND

JOINT CHARGE OF CAR CONVERSION

(New Zealand Press Association) AUCKLAND, January 2 Four armed youths sought on F-i day bv police throughout the Rotorus and Waikato areas were caught bv detectives in different parts of Auck land late on Friday night. Two were caught in a Parnell rooming-house after detectives had waited three hours for their return. The third was caught in a guest house and the fourth in the Maori Community Centre, Freeman’s Bay The rifles and ammunition they were carrying were recovered. J The youths—Phil Arthur Thomas Ottley. aged 19, a labourer; Derek Vincent Wilson, aged 18. a SeamanBarry Thomas Kerr, aged 20 a labourer; and Robert Michael 1 Edward Blackmore. aged 19, a driverappeared on Saturday in the Magistrate’s Court before Mr R. M. Grant S.M. They were jointly charged with unlawfully taking for their own use on December 29 a car valued at £lOOO. the property of Dr. G. A Andrae, Parnell. They were remanded to appear on Friday, January 6. All four applied for bail, but it was refused Other charges, including breaking and entry and theft, will be preferred against them later.
