N.Z. ANTARCTIC EXPEDITION

TIMARU COMMITTEE’S

APPEAL PLANS (From Our Own Reporter) TIMARU. December 9. The Timaru Antarctic Appeal Committee has decided not to proceed with its appeal to raise funds, ia the meantime. This decision has been made because of the forthcoming crippled children’s and St John Ambulance appeals and the approach of Christmas. An “Antarctic Week” will be held from April 30 to May 5, 1956, th« committee decided. Various entertainments and displays will be arranged for this week. Members of the Grain and Product Association and the Stock and Station Agents’ Association hart offered to support the committee and a stock drive will be held in February. The Mayor (Mr R. E. White) thanked members for their keenness and support and exressed regret that the appeal had clashed with other local appeals.
