LICENSING TRUST FINANCE

DIFFICULTIES AT PAPATOETOE FINAL EXTENSION OF LICENCE (Neto Zealand Press Association) AUCKLAND, December 2. The Manukau Licensing Committee today granted the Papatoetoe Licensing Trust a final extension of its existing licence. If, at the end of the period, the trust has not been able to raise £70,000 to build a proposed hotel at Papatoetoe, the licence is to be surrendered. Mr L. J. Daley, chairman of the Papatoetoe Licensing Trust Committee, told the licensing committee of the efforts made to raise the finance by appealing to the residents of the district to support interest-bearing debentures. He said that, to date, £lOOO had been promised, and this week-end had been set as the deadline. Mr M. C. Astley, S.M., chairman of the licensing committee, said that if, at the next quarterly meeting of the committee, the finance could not be guaranteed, the licence would have to be surrendered.
