VOCATIONAL TRAINING IN BURMA
ADVISORY POST FOR DUNEDIN MAN (New Zealand Press Association) WELLINGTON, October 4. The headquarters of the New Zealand Disabled Servicemen’s League announced today that at the request of the World Veterans’ Federation the league had agreed to send one of its most experienced officers, Mr L. G. Garland, district officer at Dunedin, to assist in the establishment of a vocational training centre at Rangoon, Burma. The United Nations and the Government of Burma are associated with the World Veterans’ Federation in this project for the training of disabled former servicemen in new trades and occupations, and later, of disabled civilians. Mr Garland will advise on the planning of the proposed centre and on the selection of the most appropriate trades and occupations to be taught. His report will be studied by the league before it releases another of its officers for a longer appointment at Rangoon.
