Rogers 2, Dr. P. Brass and Mr T. Kun 3. The final result of the three-night Mitchell match was:—Mrs Ardagh 1, Mrs Justice 2, Mrs Houston 3. Last evening, representatives and observers at the Kindergarten Conference and representatives of kindred organisations in Christchurch were guests of the Christchurch Free Kindergarten Association at a reception in the National Party clubrooms. The Dean of Christchurch (the Very Rev. Martin Sullivan) spoke on the home and the family. Songs were sung by Mrs Cara Cogswell and Mr Colin Campbell. The accompanists were Mrs W. E. Olds and Mrs Campbell.

A new member was welcomed by Mrs Bennett at the monthly meeting of the St. Martin’s Townswomen’s Guild. An interesting talk on antique china and porcelain was given by Mrs Trevena. Circle leaders presented their reports. Items were presented by the guild’s choir. It was reported at the monthly meeting of the Cholmondeley Memorial Children’s Home committee that the home had been exceptionally busy during the month. A large number of convalescent children had been admitted. Appreciation of the service that the home was giving to the community was expressed through the receipt of £l2O in donations this month, including one of £lOO from an anonymous donor. Such donations as this make the difficult task of financing the home an easier one for the committee. it was reported. >

The October meeting of the Papanui Garden Club was held at the home of Mrs V. E. Gabites, Rugby street. Miss Webb presided. Mrs R.
