PIGEON FLYING
CANTERBURY CLUB Tile Canterbury Pigeon Flying Club opened its old-bird season with a race from Picton, in which 29 owners Entered 257. birds. The race was won by A. Duffield’s bird No. 540, which flew nearly 169 miles in 3hr 26min 20sec. Results A. Duffield’s No. 540, 1438 yards a minute; T. Newell’s No. 347, 1436; C. Williams’s No. 990, 1433; J. Howatson’s No. 1047, 1432; T. Milne’s No. 243, 1425.8; W. Muschamp’s No. 180, 1425.7; L. Gay's No. 204, 1424.8;, J. Hurrell’s No. 280, 14243* J. Wilson's No. 65, 1420. Nominated birds were A.
