Stamp Exhibition Opened.—A combined stamp exhibition was officially opened in Christchurch by Mr John Ulm, of Sydney. Mr Ulm is special assistant to the management of Qantas Empire Airways, and son of the late Mr C. T. P. Ulm, who made the first air crossing of the Tasman with Sir Charles Kingsford-Smith. On display at the exhibition is the flag carried by Keith and Ross Smith on their pioneer flight from England to Australia in 1920. The special red silk bag that carried the first all-up air mail from Britain to New Zealand is also exhibited.
