CRUTCHING SALE RETURNS

DROP IN PRICES AT INVERCARGILL

(New Zealand Press Association) INVERCARGILL, August 31. Wool prices at- the crutchlng sale held in Invercargill on August 11 showed a drop of 4.6 per cent, on the values obtained at the corresponding sale in Dunedin last year, but were on a par with prices at other New Zealand centres. A total of 6485 bales brought gross proceeds of £393,974 and gave averages of 42.36 d per lb and £6O 15s a bale. Last year 5673 bales realised £364,539, with averages of 44.53 d per lb and £64 5s 3d Brokers said that the price obtained was good, considering the dirty state of the wool.
