TV From 5000ft

(N.Z. Press Association—Copyright) ... , , LONDON, August 30. Airborne television cameras firing !n Air Force Varsity trainers took British viewers 5000 feet above the earth in the first public television air-to-ground broadcasts. Two cameras, with operators, technicians and a commentator, were airborne for half an hour, and on landing the Varsity was "talked down’’ through the cloud to a lighted flarepath.

Viewers heard the talk-down from the flight controller, watched the runway as it slid into view through the cloud, and saw pictures of another aircraft transmitted from the Varsity.
