PARLIAMENTARY DAY

(From Our Parliamentary Reporter) WELLINGTON, August 31. Slow progress on business in the House of Representatives today prevented discussion of the Shops and Offices Bill. During the afternoon the House discussed Ministerial replies to questions, and in the evening the Petroleum Amendment Bill was given a second reading and referred to the Goldfields and Mines Committee. The second reading of the Housing Improvement Amendment Bill, dealing with the subdivision of reclamation areas, will be debated tomorrow afternoon; and then the major piece of legislation for the session so far —the Shops and Offices Bill—will be reached.
