THE FORMER ST. HELENS HOSPITAL, at the corller of Durham and Battersea streets, is taking on a new look with modernisation and renovation. Now the property of the Christchurch Aged People’s Welfare Council, the building has been renamed Langford House to commemorate the work done by the council's first secretary, Mr T. H. Langford. The lower photograph shows the building a few years ago, when it was a maternity hospital. Earlier it was a hotel.
