Economic Cost Of Disorders
(Rec. 11 p.m.) LONDON, Aug. 30. The Tangiers correspondent of the “Financial Times” said today that the latest disorders in French Morocco are estimated to have caused economic damage amounting to about £1,250,000 —of which £1,000,000 worth was caused to the phosphate mine at Khouribga. Production at Khouribga is expected to resume again shortly, though many of the 7000 to BC3O who have been left jobless may in the meantime seek jobs elsewhere, including France. The disorders have also caused an estimated £320,000 damage in Safi, sardine fishing centre.
