Tangled Towns
Some outback Australian towns are shown up to 30 miles out of position on maps, a Government spokesman said today. An official of the national mapping section of the Department of the interior said, the positions nf • tost inland towns and cities had be?n fixed astronomically. “This had led to' errors, but we are rectifying the mistakes,” he added. The department, with the help of the army, is making an Australia-wide survey to fix accu-< rately the true position of every town i and city.—Melbourne, August 29.
