CITY COUNCIL WORKS
£27,134 FOR VEHICLES AND PLANT The City Council last evening accepted tenders amounting to £27,134 for motor-vehicles and equipment for its works and waterworks departments. It agreed to buy the following— A truck for the waterworks staff, price £875 for chassis and ibout £2OO for body. A six-cylinder car, price £BB3. A lOcwt runabout for the dust and refuse foreman, price £795. A truck chassis for a rubbish disposal van, price £2373. Two trucks at £1462 each and another two at £1420 each. Nine thousand feet of cast-iron pipe and fittings, price £8353. Thirty thousand feet of asbestos pipe, price £5787. One hundred and fifty valve hydrants, price £2134.
