THE DISTRICT CENTRE TO BE BUILT FOR THE CHRISTCHURCH AHED PEOPLE'S WELFARE COUNCIL.—The block of buildings to be erected at Shirley on land given to the Christchurch Aged Prople's Welfare Council by Mr. E. A. Adams, This perspective view is from the north side, the garden front. There will be accommodation for more than 70 old folk. including 12 to 15 in an infirmary ward. The central two-storey block will contain a dining hall, a lounge, and reading rooms Funds for the erection of the centre have been greatly augmented by the Christchurch Rotary Club’s £50,000 appeal, and the money raised will be handed over to the Aged People's Welfare Council today. The architects for the new centre are Messrs Helmore and Cotterill.
