Lewis Hoad and Ken Rosewall i beat Vic Seixas and Hamilton Rich-i ardson in four set matches in the two final singles. Hoad beat Seixas. 7-9, 6-1, 6-4, 6-4, and Rosewall beat Richardson, 6-4. 3-6. i 6-1, 6-4. Richardson was substituted for Tony Trabert, who is suffering from a blistered hand. The last time a country scored a’ 5-0 win in a challenge round was »n; 194 S when the United States beatAustralia on the same courts. Rcsewall was below the form he! showed on Friday when he beat Seixas in four sets, but he was still good! enough to have a comfortable win over: Richardson. The fourth set of this match was one! of the most curious seen in first-class tennis. There were five service breaks, starting with Rosewall taking Richardson’s in the first game. Thereafter. each broke through twice. Rosewall went through the match without a double fault. He had only 11 aces to Richardson’s 19. but his accuracy after he failed with his first service was a telling factor. Mr Richard Nixon. Vice-President of the United States, presented the Davis Cup to the Australian captain * Mr Harry Hopman) and congratulated the Australian team. The American captain (Bill Talbert) said the Australians were the better team and deserved to win. The professional tennis promoter. Jack Kramer, said today he was interested in signing Lewis Hoad to a contract for a professional tennis tour. “At the moment Hoad looks like the best prospect.” Kramer said. “The whole country has seen him help win back the Davis Cup. and you might say he is ‘hot.’ ” added Kramer. Hoad said he was unable to commit himself at present because he had his present tour to complete. However, he added: “If the offer is good enough, how can I pass it up?” Kramer said that a tour involving two other Australian Davis Cup players, Frank Sedgman and Ken McGregor. netted 170.000 dollars in eight months.
