N.Z. CHAIRMAN AT BANGKOK TALKS

Representatives of the South-east Asia Treaty Organisation concluded their fouc-day meeting at Bangkok communique issued after the meeting said, in part, that the ‘ council representatives agreed upon the report made by military advisers after their meeting in Bangkok last July. “They also agreed upon the report of the Committee of Economic Experts which met in Karachi in June. “They were of the opinion that the action which the governments have undertaken in respect of recommendations in this later report will further the growing co-operation in the economic field which is one of the important purposes of the treaty. “Council representatives completed arrangements for further meetings of experts in other fields affecting the implement of the treaty.” Mr Foss Shanahan, of New Zealand, was the chairman.
