BRITISH TEXTILE MAKER’S VISIT Belief in the need to “go out and sell” is sending a British fabric manur«c«A!fer’-, Maurice Rosen, on a 50.000-rnile sales tour round the world. He arrived in Christchurch yesterday to meet wholesalers and manufacturers with sample fabrics ahd patterns for the summer of 1956. The cotton industry of Lancashire is having a slack time, but Mr Rosen believes that the answer of the British businessman to the competition from the Continent and the Far East is for “Up to see his customer personally. This is his third annual visit to New Zealand.
osen is armed with more than 300 new patterns notable for their bright designs and range of pleasing Colours. But his secret weaoon is a new cotton with a non-iron finish. This material remains soft to the touch out retains the crisp quality of well pressed cotton. Twisting, creasing, and washing leave its appearance unimpaired. 4 iF olou , r , c h°ic® Mr Rosen predicts JY flat he calls the “sable range." from V fawn to pinger brown, and coral shades, especially pinks, for future rashions. Predominant among bis samples are white and pastel backgrounds with distinctive, precise patterns. These include stylish Eastern figures, scenes, add motifs which are m line with the current. Dior fashion lead for Oriental designs. Patterns are obtained by his firm fr°ni all the world, mostly from the continent. Mr Rosen has his eve on several Maori designs in New Zealand they qre then reproduced in several different colours for the choice of his customers. He has already manufactured 750,000 yards of material for sample orders. Nylon and rayon are also fabrics which his firm produces in a wide range of filmy, pastel materials.
