REVIEW OF YEAR’S ACTIVITIES The Canterbury Car Club had held an average of an event every fortnight. said the president (Mr G. Drayton) at the club’s annual meeting last evening. The Mairehau race had been particularly successful, and had shown a profit of £339, he said. Two members had set club records which were also records for car clubs throughout the Dominion. These were M. Stanton’s standing quarter-mile record of 12.96 sec and J. Tutton’s record of 144.59 miles an hour for the flying kilometre. A new timing device had been built for the club by Mr R. E. Sullivan, said Mr Drayton. Lt was operated by photoelectric cells, and had an over-sized stop-watch as a recording instrument. Th* vatue of the machine was about £lBO. An addition of 70 new members had increased the membership to 331, and the club was probably the largest of its kind in New Zealand, said Mr Drayton. Officers were elected as follows: patron, Mr C. W. F. Hamilton; vicepatron. Mr F. W. Walter; president, Mr B. H. Faton; vice-presidents. Messrs H. G. R. Sedgley and L. S. Lester; club captain, Mr E. A. Kennard; vicecaptain. Mr B. Monk; sports secretary, Mr H. G. Sheppard; secretary, Mr A. B. Barnsdale; ’ committee. Messrs A. Clarke. N. Brown. B. Joyce. W. Shaw, A. Storer, B. Kirk, and D. Rutherford; women’s committee, Mesdames B. Monk. O. Sharman, A. Stuart, E. A. Kennard. S. Jonathan. A. Clarke, N. Brown, G. Drayton, and J. Tutton. Trials sub-committee: Messrs J. Cummins. B. T. Newman. W. J. Mauger and A. W. Luxton: speed events subcommittee. Messrs M. D. K. Coulter. D. G. Owen. I. D. Taylor. W. H. J. Hcasley and M. D. L. Stewart.
