ELLESMERE RETAINS TWO SHIELDS
Ellesmere Rugby Sub-Union’s representatives retained both the Southbridge Shield and the Munro Shield in games against Hurunui teams on Saturday. Ellesmere senior team beat Hurunui. 8-3, for the Southbridge Shield, and Ellesmere scored 11 points and Hurunui 0 in the junior, Munro Shield, game. In a third grade game, Leeston 36 beat Waiftora 0. Leeston fifth grade team drew with Irwell, with no score, and a Leeston fifth grade team beat Southbridge. 9-6. The following teams have been chosen to defend the Southbridge and Munro Shields against, challenges by the North Canterbury Sub-Union, to be played at Leeston on Saturday:— . Southbridge Shield: G.
