Fall In British Exports

(N.Z. Press Association—Copyright) LONDON, July 11. Britain’s exports in June were worth £157,000,000. about £90,000,000 less than the average for April and May, the Board of Trade announced today. Imports, worth £293.000,000. were 3 per cent, below the average for April and May. The drop in exports is attributed by an official spokesman to the dock and rail strikes. These caused a partial stoppage on the docks throughout June and on the railways for half of the month.

The effect of the dock strike appears to be greater in the case of exports than of imports, the spokesman said. Thus, imports in June were actually slightly larger than in May, while exports were down more than 30 per cent.
