AFTERNOON PARTY
MR AND MRS A. S. RUSDEN HONOURED Mr A S. Rusden, who for some years has been district officer of the Disabled Servicemen’s Re-establish-ment League Training Centre, and Mrs Rusden were the guests of honour at an afternoon party given yesterday by the woman’s section of the Returned Services’ Association at th 6 JelHcbe Hall. Mrs H. A- Bishop, president of the women’s section, spoke in warm appreciation of the splendid work that Mr Rusden had done at the training centre, of his devotion to disabled servicemen. and his whole-hearted interest in their welfare. On behalf of members, she presented Mr Rusden with a set of gold and onyx studs and sleeve links, and Mrs Rusden with a flower picture and a shoulder spray of danhne. Mr and Mrs Rusden will soon leave Christchurch for the West Coast, as M’ Rusden has accepted a position at th< Fox Glacier. Specially invited guest 1 were Mr G. D. Hattaway (president of the Christchurch Returned Services' Association) and Mrs Hattaway, and Mr P. L. Power, who will succeed Mr Rusden at the training centre at Riccarton, and Mrs Power. An interesting address on SaudiArabia was given by Mr E. P. Sanders, an engineer and graduate of Canterbury University College, who spent nine months in the country last year under the United Nations Technical Assistance Administration. Mr Hattaway thanked Mr Sanders.
