Mr and Mrs Bryan Boys (Hawke’s Bay), who are visiting Mrs J. Mowbray Tripp, Park terrace, will leave for the north on Saturday.

Miss L. Church (Papanui), who has been spending a year in Britain, travelled to Australia in the Orontes and returned to the Dominion in the Wanganella this week. Mr and Mrs H. Peasgood, formerly of Marton, have spent five weeks in Christchurch with Mrs Peasgood’s sister, Mrs Yeoman and her sister-in-law, Mrs B. Pope, St. Albans. They were bidden farewell at several parties before leaving by the Port Sydney for a trip to Britain and Europe. In Britain. Mr Peasgood expects to visit his two brothers, whom he has not seen for 38 years.

The speaker was Mrs R. A. Young, who gave an enjovable description of many phases of her recent visit to the Far East and displayed many attractive articles she had collected on her tour Mrs E. R. Mulligan presided at the meeting and Mrs M. W. Beaven thanked Mrs Young.

Results of competitions were as follows: decorative, arrangement of stylosa with one other flower, class A, Miss G. Hegarty 1, Mrs E. Fancy 2, Mrs C. Foote 3; class B. Mrs R. B. Lovell-Smith 1, Mrs M. Glasgow 2. Mrs I. Skipworth 3; best bloom. Miss G. Hegarty 1, Mrs M. Glasgow 2, Mrs J. Martin 3. The sales table organised by Mesdames H. M. Sweney, A. Hobbs, K. Laugesen, R. Gilmour, R. R. Lovell-Smith and J. Dawson did good business. Assistant hostesses were Mesdames J. Joseph, F. N. Wilde and F. J. Smee. The Rev. Ross Heywood spoke on the sanctity of marriage at a recent meeting of the St. Albans branch of the League of Mothers. Items were given by the league’s choir. Mrs Frame was in charge of the creche.
