CHRISTCHURCH JAZZ SOCIETY
MANY IMPROMPTU ITEMS IN CONCERT Nearly all the modern forms of jazz music including dixieland, boogiewoogie, bop and cool were presented to an. enthusiastic audience at a concert by members of the Christchurch Jazz Society last evening. Many of the items were of an impromptu nature; the response from the audience was also unrehearsed. At various times during the evening couples jived in the aisles and for most of the concert enthusiastic listeners clapped their hands and tapped their feet in time with a rhythm section consisting of a pianist, a drummer, an electric guitar player, and a double bass playerSoloists included clarinettists, saxophonists, trumpeters, trombonists ana men and women singers. The producers of the 12 items during, the concert were: Misses J. Bailey ana C. Cummins, and Messrs N. Wesney, V Gray, G. Marston, R. Bradford, J. Fowler, C. Inns, D. Caldwell, R. Derrett. D. Kelly, and J. Jansens.
