PURCHASE OF MEAT COMPANY
CONCERN EXPRESSED BY AUCKLAND FARMERS (New Zealand Press Association) AUCKLAND. July 12. The meat and wool section of Auckland Federated Farmers today urged the Government to act immediately on the federation’s recommendation that a judicial commission should be appointed to investigate and report upon any monopoly or restrictive practices that are against the interest of- both producers and consumers. It was recently announced that British meat interests had bought control of the Auckland Meat Company. The farmers’ resolution said that the executive committee of the section was most concerned that meat exporters could extend their activities freely in the local meat trade, and for this reason urged the establishment of a judicial commission.
