STATE BUYS THREE PROPERTIES
SHEEP, CROPPING, AND DAIRY UNITS (From Our Own Reporter) n ■ WELLINGTON. July 12. The Minister of Lands (Mr E. B. Corbett) today announced that the Government has acquired three properties in Canterbury and Westland for development. Mr Corbett said the Rakaia property °i late Mr J- Harrison consisted ot 1416 acres. It would provide two sheep and cropping units to carry 800 and 750 ewes respectively. J. Gregory’s Ashburton property ot 1184 acres would provide two sheep and cropping units, carrying a total of <5O ewes.
From a 566-acre property at Ara- & Ul S’ Westland, formerly owned by Mr F. Braddock, one dairy unit would be provided, said Mr Corbett. The rest of the property would be added to the Arahura research block.
