Women Climbers Find Courtesy In Nepal

LONDON, July 7. On their return to London after climbing a 22,000 ft mountain in the Himalayas, three young women climbers praise the courtesy in Nepal. “It is the one place in. the world where a woman is treated like a lady,” said Mrs Monica Jackson, a 36-year-old mother of two.' | • “The natives there are the most charming people you could ever meet. We found better manners in the two months and a half we were there than we have found in a lifetime in Londdn or Glasgow.” With them on the climbing expedition were four Sherpas and 36 porters. Mrs Jackson placed an orangemarked flag on the summit of the 22,000 ft peak and named it Gyalgen, after Mingma Gyalgen, the leading Sherpa.
