CONCERT FOR AGED APPEAL
It IS a pity that only 800 attended the concert in the Civic Theatre last evening in aid of the appeal for the aged. Apart from the worthy cause the programme was varied enough for any audience and of high quality Well over 200 Christchurch artists co-operated under the leadership of Mr Len Barnes. Among the big group* were the Woolston Brass Band, the Orpheus Choir, the Christchurch Liedertafel. the Christchurch Male Voice Choir, the chorus of the Christchurch Operatic Society’s forthcoming production “Wild Violets,’’ and the Christchurch Savage Club Orchestra. The individual performers were:— John McLaughlin, piano solos; Colin Campbell, baritone solos; “Mr and Miss Pechorin’’ with Norman Carson musical sketches; Trevor Hutton and Eric Truscott, flute and clarinet- Martin Brown and Clive Thomas, two pianos; and Noel Hookham.
