GAS TURBINES IN WARSHIP

’ (Rec. 10 p.m.) LONDON, July I. During the trials of H.M.S. Grey Goose, a former steam gunboat of 205 tons, now powered by two I Rolls-Royce gas turbines and two controllable pitch propellers, a speed of 50 knots was reached in smooth water. The Grey Goose is the first warship to be powered solely by gas turbine engines, which are described as undoubtedly the most advanced in the world today.
