TRANSPORT BOARD’S RATES. IT IS HEREBY PUBLICLY NOTIFIED that it is the intention of the Christchurch City Council at an Ordinary Meeting of the Christchurch City Council to be held at 8 p.m. on MONDAY, the eighteenth day of JULY, 1955, in the City Council Chamber, 194 Manchester street, Christchurch, to MAKE AND LEVY the undermentioned RATES upon the Rateable Value of all Rateable Properties appearing in the Valuation Rolls now in force in the City of Christchurch for the period commencing on the first day of April. 1955. and ending on the thirty-first day of March. 1956. 1. AS to the WHOLE CITY OF CHRISTCHURCH a General Rate of THREE PENCE (3d) IN THE POUND on Unimproved Value. The above Rate will be made under the Provisions of Sections 90 and 92 of “The Municipal Corporations Act, 1954,” and "The Rating Act, 1925,” for General Municipal purposes. 2. As to the WHOLE CITY OF CHRISTCHURCH, a Separate Rate of THREE THOUSAND NINE HUNDRED AND THIRTY THREE - TWENTY FIVE THOUSANDTHS (3,933-25,000th5) OF A PENNY IN THE £ on unimproved Value. The above Rate will be made under the Provisions of Section 101 of “The Municipal Corporations Act, 1954,” and “The Rating Act, 1925,” for the purpose of Lighting the Streets in the City. 3. The above Rate will be made under the Provisions of Section 104 of “The Municipal Corporations Act, 1954,” and “The Rating Act, 1925,” for the purpose of providing for the provision and maintenance of Libraries. 4. As to the WHOLE CITY OF CHRISTCHURCH, a Separate Rate of TWENTY SEVEN - ONE HUNDRED AND TWENTY FIFTHS (27-125ths) OF A PENNY IN THE POUND on the Unimproved Value. The above Rate will be made under the Provisions of Section 54 (1) of “The Fire Services Act. 1949,” and Section 23 of ‘‘The Fire Services Act, 1953,” “The Municipal Corporations Act, 1954,” and “The Rating Act, 1925,” to meet Contributions payable to the Christchurch Fire Board. 5. As to the WHOLE CITY OF CHRISTCHURCH a Separate Rate of TWO THOUSAND ONE HUNpRED AND NINETY-NINE-TWENTY’ FIVE THOUSANDTHS (2,199-25,000th5) OF A PENNY IN THE POUND on Capital Value, under the provisions of Section 52 of “The Hospitals Act, 1926,” and “The Rating Act, 1925.” Such Rate being required to meet the Contribution payable by the Christchurch City Council to the North Canterbury Hospital Board. 6. As to the WHOLE CITY OF CHRISTCHURCH. a Separate Rate of THIRTY THREE-TWO THOUSAND FIVE HUNDREDTHS (33-2500ths) OF A PENNY IN THE POUND on Unimproved Value. The above Rate will be made under the Provisions of Section 9 of “The Riccarton Bush Amendment Act, 1947,” “The Municipal Corporations Act, 1934,” and “The Rating Act, 1925,” to meet contributions payable to the Riccarton Bush Trust Board. 7. As to the WHOLE CITY OF CHRISTCHURCH. a Separate Rate of TWENTY ONE-TWO HUNDRED AND FIFTIETHS (21-250ths) OF A PENNY IN THE

POUND on Unimproved Value. , The above Rate will be made under the Provisions of Sections 12 and 14 of "The Canterbury Museum Trust Board Act, 1947,” "The Municipal Corporations Act. 1954,” and "The Rating Act, 1925,” to meet contributions payable to the Canterbury Museum Trust Board. ■ 8. AS TO THE WHOLE CITY OF CHRISTCHURCH (the boundaries of , which are defined in the New Zealand Gazette No. 71, page 1990 of December 10. 1953, and amended on February 2, 1955), under the Provisions of Section 95 of “The Municipal Corporations Act, 1954,” "The Rating Act, 1925,” Section 31, "Finance Act, 1922,” Water Rates as follows: ' (a) Upon all Lands and Buildings described in the above area to which water is supplied: (1) Where the Annual Rateable Value does not exceed £l2 10s a Rate of ONE POUND (£1). (2) Where the annual Rateable Value exceeds £l2 10s a rate of TWO POUNDS (£2) per centum on such value provided that in no case shall the rate for ordinary supply be less than £1 per annum as provided for in Section 538 of ‘‘The Christchurch By-law No. 1.” (b) Upon all Lands and Buildings within the Water Rating Area as above described to which water can be but is not supplied, situate within one hundred yards from any part of the waterworks, a Rate of One-half of the Water Rates above-mentioned. (c) Upon all Lands and Buildings within the Water Rating Area as above described to which water is supplied used as stores or warehouses or for any purposes other than as dwelling-houses, a Rate of ONE POUND (£1) per centum on the Annual Rateable Value. (d) Upon all Lands and Buildings within the Water Rating Area as above described used as stores or warehouses or for any purposes other than as dwelling-houses to which water can be but is not supplied, situated within one hundred yards from any part of the waterworks, a Rate of TEN SHILLINGS (10s) per centum or- the Annual Rateable Value.
