£l700 FOR A BUS SHELTER
Simple, cantilever-type shelters for waiting bus passengers had been estimated to cost £l7OO if built individually, said Mr A. J. Woodward at last evening’s meeting of the Sumner Residents’ Association. No engineering firm in New Zealand who had been asked had been interested in quoting for the fabrication of cantilevered pipes to suppo*c the rorZs of the shelters. A quotation was awaited from England, he said. The price of £l7OO did not include erection. “As about 5000 tons of disused tramlines are about to be shipped to Japan, we would rather have them back in the form of shelters than in the form of some other commodity which might not be so pleasant,” said Mr R. C. Neville amid laughter.
