STUDENT CHRISTIAN MOVEMENT

CHURCH SERVICE HELD Christ’s College chapel was almost filled yesterday afternoon with students of Canterbury University College, the Christchurch Teachers’ College and senior school pupils for the special service of the Student Christian Movement. The service marked the end of federation week, during which members of the movement worked and raised money to help fellow students in need throughout the world. The service was conducted by the Rev. L.'van Wyngen, a former chaplain to the movement in Christchurch. i The Ven. Archdeacon S. Woods, the I first chaplain to the movement in 1 Christchurch, preached the sermon, and spoke about the place of the church in industry. Archdeacon Woods returned to New Zealand recently after nine years as vicar of Hatfield, which in the last century has grown from a small village to a large industrial centre. z The lesson was read by Mr R. Kilgour, president of the Student Christian Movement at Canterbury University College. The movement’s choir sang an anthem and led the singing of hymns.
