PUBLIC NOTICES CHRISTCHURCH TRANSPORT BOARD. NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that at a Special Meeting of the Christchurch Transport Board held on Monday, June 20, 1955, the following resolution was passed which will be submitted for confirmation at an ordinary meeting of the Board to be held on Monday July’ 18, 1955, at 2 p.m., in the Board Room, Cathedral square, Christchurch. DEVELOPMENT AND IMPROVEMENT LOAN £40,000 1954. In pursuance and exercise of the powers conferred on it by Section 9 of the Christchurch Tramway District Amendment Act, 1921, the Christchurch Tramway Amendment Act 1950, the Local Bodies Loan Act 1926 and its amendments, and all other powers it enabling the Christchurch Transport Board hereby resolves by way of Special Order as follows: 1. That the said Board authorises the the raising of a loan of £40,000 for the purpose of extensions, alterations and modernisation of existing workshops and plant for omnibus operation. 2. That the rate of interest payable in respect of the said loan shall not exceed Four pounds (£4 0s Od) per centum per annum, and shall be paid in New Zealand. 3. That the said sum of £40,000 shall be repayable in New Zealand on due date. 4. That , the security for the said Loan shall be a special rate to provide equal aggregate instalments of principal and interest. 7. That for the purpose of providing the equal aggregate instalments of principal and interest on the said Loan of £40,000, the Christchurch Transport Board hereby makes and levies a Special Rate of decimal nought, nought, four, five, five, nought, eight pence (.0U45508d) in the £ upon the rateable value on the basis of Capital Value of all rateable property of the Christchurch Tramway District, comprising the whole of the said District, the boundaries of which are defined in the schedule to the Christchurch Tramway District Act 1920, as amended by subsection 3 of Section 9 of the Christchurch Tramway District Amendment Act 1932-33: and that such Special Rate shall be an annual recurring rate during the currency of such loan and be payable yearly on the 31st day of March in each and every year during the currency of such loan being a period °f t en years or until the loan is fully paid off. 8. That it is hereby directed that the said rate be levied and collected by the Christchurch City Council, the Riccarton Borough Council, and the Waimairi, Paparua, Heathcote, and Halswell County Councils respectively within their respective districts. The Christchurch Transport Board in pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in it in that behalf by the Local bodies Loans Act 1926, the Christchurch Tramway District Act 1920, and all other powers it enabling, hereby further resolves by way of Special Order:— That until further resolution of the Board the Interest and Sinking Fund on the said Development and Improvement Loan of £40,000 be paid out of the Board's General Fund. A Fire Protection Rate of .0705 d (point nought seven nought five pence) in the pound on the Capital Value of all rateable property in the County of Heathcote. A Hospital and Charitable Aid Rate of .1666 d (point one, six, six, six pence) in the pound on the Capital Value of all rateable property in the County of Heathcote. A Water Rate in the Cashmere, Mount Pleasant, and Hillsborough Ridings in respect of the ordinary water supply, within the meaning of the Heathcote Water By-Law, 1933:
(a) Upon all land and buildings to which water is supplied:— 1. Where the Annual Value does not exceed £l2 10s a rate of 10s. 2. Where the Annual Value exceeds £l2 10s, a rate of 3J per cent, on such value in the case of the Cashmere Riding, a rate of 2J per cent, on such value in the case of the Hillsborough Riding, and a rate of 3J per cent, on such value in the case of the Mount Pleasant Riding, provided that in no case shall the rate for the ordinary supply be legs than 10s per annum. (b) Upon all land and buildings to which water can be, but is not supplied, situated within 100 yards of any part of the water works, a rate of one half of the rates above mentioned, with a minimum charge of ss. Special rates for the purpose of meeting the annual interest and sinking fund charges, such rates to be levied on the Rateable Capital Value of all rateable property in the several special loan rating areas as follows: 1. A rate of 11-32 d in the £ in the Murray Aynsley Water Supply Loan Area in the Hillsborough Riding. 2. The following Conversion Loan Rates In the respective Ridings as under:—r Cashmere Riding. 9.64 d in £. Mt. Pleasant Riding, 9.64 d in £. ’ The whole of the above rates to be for the period commencing on the Ist day of April, 1955, and ending on the 31st day of March, 1956, and shall be payable in one sum at the office of the Heathcote County Council on the 15th day of August, 1955, and shall be subject to an additional 10 per centum (10 per cent.) penalty if not paid by the 29th day of Februarj’, 1956.
