NEHRU’S SOVIET TOUR ENDS

Talks To Sound Kremlin Mind MOSCOW. June 19. The Prime Minister of India, Mr Nehru, will have his final talks with the Soviet leaders next Wednesday. He is expected to ask for further concrete proof of the Kremlin’s declared willingness to relax world tension and to end the “cold war.” Soviet foreign policy in recent weeks has displayed a vigour and adaptability which suggests a determined attempt by the Russians to emphasise that they are prepared to discard their old and well-entrenched policy platforms in an effort to achieve “peaceful coexistence.”

Mr Nehru, who has been on a 10day tour of the Soviet Union, will certainly talk at length with the Soviet Prime Minister, Marshal Bulganin. Mr Nehru is believed to. be chiefly concerned with finding out what is behind the recent concentrated Russian campaign under the popular slogans of “Peaceful coexistence” and “Let’s end the cold war.”

According to Indian sources, Mr Nehru believes that the Russians could go still further if they wanted to show genuine willingness to relax the tension and to end the cold war. Mr Nehru is the first politician of world stature to come to Moscow to trv to discover the real meaning of the Soviet “peace offensive” at the source, according to Reuters correspondent.

Some observers think that he may seek to discover what the Russians’ real intentions are in connexion with Germany, and what concessions they might be prepared to make to allow German reunification.
