The Minister in charge of Civil Aviation (Mr T. p. Shand) will leave Auckland today for a fortnight’s tour of the Pacific. He will be accomnan ed by his private secretary <Mr R. Kem") and the Director of Civil Aviation (Mr E. A. Gibson). He will inspect facilities provided for Tasman Empire Airw.ays on the Coral route between Fiji and Tahiti. He will also visit installations at Aitutaki, Rarotonga. Western Samoa, and Tonga.— (P.A.) Mr H. N. E. Wilks. Deputy-Director of Agriculture and Forests fo r Cyrenaica. Libya, is in Christchurch on a short .visit. Mr Wilks was born m Christchurch and educated at Christchurch Boys' High School. He has not been in Christchurch since 1939. Mr A. P. D. J. Moffat, postmaster at Kaitangata ,has been appointed postmaster at Rakaia, in succession to mt E. W. Pearce, who has been appointee to a similar post at Milton. Mr L. A. Bennett was re-elected chairman of the Canterbury. Marlborough, Nelson. and Westlana division of the New Zealand brancn of the British Empire Cancer paign Society at the annual meeting yesterday. Mr Ernest Adams was reelected treasurer.
